People and Structure

The Colors Foundation incorporates the following three elements considered key to achieving the objective of Sustainabile business:

  1. Colors Academy - Housing the social development, health and education projects delivered to the communities of people living and working on the farms and packhouses of the Colors Group and its supply-base.
  2. Colors Environment - Housing all the environmental stewardship projects including carbon and water measurement and reduction projects as well as bio diversity protection projects.
  3. Colors Standards -Housing all the standards-based programs and certification schemes including the Ethical Improvement process, the Food Safety and Good Agricultural Practice certification systems applied across the Colors Group and its supply-base, as well as the Quality Management Systems and Processes aimed at driving and achieving continuous improvement in the core commercial operations of the Colors Group.

The Foundation Team

Christelle Marais (B.Sc Food Science) is the Head of Food Safety and Ethical Standards. Christelle Marais is the dedicated project leader responsible for identifying market trends and requirements to ensure sustainability within the Colors Standards scope of the Colors Foundation.
Susara Nortje (B.Sc. H.E.D.) is employed as the Head: Education and Training of the Colors Academy. She has a special interest in developing an opportunity for each one to improve him/herself and is passionate about the concept of “life-long learning”.
David Farrell (BSc Agric and MBA) is the Group Director: Sustainable Business. David has a special interest in integrated sustainable business practices.
Eddie Vienings (B.Eng and MBA) is employed as the Project Engineer for Sustainable Business in the Colors Foundation.  His main responsibility is to determine the impacts of the supply chain on the environment, measure this impact and then mitigating it.  He also investigates environmental issues that could have an impact on the business (legislation, environmental standards, etc.).  He has a special interest in sustainability and the environment.
Anna Oppel (BA H.E.D. and MA Afrikaans Literature) is the Chief Executive Officer of Colors Academy.
Thana Whitehead (D Comm: Industrial Psychology) is employed as the Group Director: Human Resources and has a special interest in change management and leadership development.
