Purpose
Purpose
The purpose of the Colors Foundation is to embed the concept and practices of “Sustainable Business” in the ethos, culture and behavior of the Colors Group and its supply-base. This is being done through the identification, planning, resourcing and delivery on projects in the areas of social upliftment, human-development, economic development and environmental stewardship.
Colors Foundation as a Section 21 Company
The Colors Foundation is set up as a Section 21 (not for profit) organization so as to facilitate the attracting of donor funding. This funding is being sought in order to facilitate and enable the more rapid roll-out of the various Sustainability Projects across the entire Colors organization and supply-base.
In its pursuit of true Sustainability, Colors has to stimulate the required changes across its supply-base. This presents both a challenge and an opportunity. A challenge in that, to a large extent, this supply-base is made up of privately owned farms and packhouses, and each individual business will have to be engaged in the process. An opportunity is presented in that collectively, this Colors supply-base represents a sizeable share of the South African Fruit Industry and, as such, can make a significant impact in the journey to sustainable development of not only the fruit industry but South African society in general.
