The first pallet of South African citrus packed using the Eco Pack System of recyclable and re-usable plastic trays arrived successfully and in excellent condition in the UK last week. The innovative packaging system provides a light-weight, customisable packaging solution using recyclable materials was introduced to the South African citrus industry by the XLnT Citrus company.

Paarl-based Colors Group has confirmed that nine senior commercial staff resigned from the company on Friday, July 31, 2010 to pursue their own interests.
Colors Group CEO, Ian Carstens, one of the founder members and a major shareholder, says while the resignation of key members of staff was regrettable, he respected their wishes to pursue interests outside the company and that Colors would use the opportunity to restructure and strengthen the Group.

Colors Fruit is participating in a trial with XLnT Citrus aimed at evaluating the economic, operational, technical and environmental impacts of the Eco Pack System. In 2008, Colors concluded its first full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study of its fruit export supply-chain, with the results of this work, certified by the Carbon Trust in the UK, detailing the carbon emissions characteristics of every step and input across the supply-chain.
